The Silicon Valley Mac User Group (SVMUG) has a recent name but a long lineage. The group started around 1991 as the south bay branch of the Berkeley Macintosh User Group (BMUG). BMUG dissolved in 1997, but we kept the south bay meetings running! Eventually we changed our name from BMUG South to SVMUG, to better show our new nature.
Meetings are normally held on the third Monday of every month. The meetings start at 7:00 PM and usually last until 9:30 PM or 10:00 PM or thereabouts. A typical meeting will include a news and events discussion, one or two vendor presentations, a socialization break, a feisty question and answer session, with a raffle of books and the occasional software package ending the night. Some members, not having had enough, often retire to a local eatery afterward for our "editorial" section.
The meetings are held on the Google campus in Mountain View, currently in the Bodega Bay room. See our
Maps and directions page for more info, as the room can be hard to find.
We maintain a
mailing list on Yahoo for the convenience of our members. You should register
there in order to receive meeting announcements and other commentary.
Please use the blog on this web site (svmug.org) to read about upcoming meetings.
