posted Nov 13, 2014, 4:56 AM by Pam Ailes

Hello svmug members & friends!

The next meeting of the Silicon Valley Macintosh User Group (svmug) is on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 7:00PM. As always, meetings are open to the public and free to attend. Bring a friend! We are in our "Normal" room: BODEGA BAY TECH TALK ROOM at Google in Mountain View, CA. See below for details and directions.

HEADS UP - DECEMBER POTLUCK

By the way, December’s meeting includes our annual holiday potluck so start thinking about what you would like to bring to the party. We’ll have a signup sheet circulating at the November meeting. An email will be sent to the yahoo group members after the November meeting with updates as to what category of food/beverages are still needed. We already have plates, napkins, utensils, glasses - both kinds, for hot and for cold beverages. You’ll need to bring your own serving spoons, tongs etc., for your particular dish.

NOVEMBER SPEAKER & TOPIC:

Macworld’s Senior Editor, Chris Breen, will speak about the changes wrought by OS X Yosemite and iOS 8 and what they mean for Apple now and into the future. Chris is a wonderfully entertaining and funny speaker. He is a columnist as well as an author of many books and blogs that are always educational. It’s been over a year since Chris last presented to svmug and we are very fortunate to have him back in person. Come learn from one of the best!

MEETING ROOM LOCATION:

We will be meeting at Google, in the Bodega Bay Tech Talk Room. If you have not been here before, please allow for some extra time to find the room. Often there is a giant white mobile "Hair cut van" parked in the parking lot near where a cafeteria for Google employees and the Bodega Bay room are located. If you are lost, please call 408-877-6377 and we will try to get you to the right place.

DIRECTIONS:

-- From Highway 101, take the Amphitheater Parkway exit, which is also Rengstorff Avenue; Head North.

-- Turn right (East) onto Charleston Rd.

-- Turn left (North) onto the Google complex, at the 3rd driveway entrance. Look at the map to verify the driveway's location since it is hard to see in the dark.

-- Look for the meeting room shown on the map.

NOTE:  If you are coming from the other direction on Charleston (coming from the East and driving West), once you cross the creek's bridge, turn RIGHT at the first driveway and go along the right side of the Google building. You'll most likely see the big white hair cut van parked there. You want to park near here. Look at the map to verify the driveway's location since it is hard to see in the dark.

BREAK TIME:

During the Break, we nibble on yummies that attendees bring to the meeting. If you are able to do so, please bring some sort of finger-food. There aren't any beverages available unless you bring some, so if you would like something to drink, please bring your own in a seal-able container, such as a water bottle.
